Parikesit
PARIKESIT is the son of Abhimanyu / Angkawijaya satria Plangkawati with empress Dewi Utari, daughter of King Matuapti with Dewi Ni Yustinawati from Wirata country.
He was an orphan, because when his father died on the battlefield of Bharatayuda, he was still in his mother's womb. Parikesit was born in the Astina palace after the Pandava family took from Amarta to Astina.
Parikshit ascended to the throne of the Astina state replacing his grandfather Prabu Karimataya, the name of Prabu Yudhistira's title after becoming the king of Astina. He is wise, honest and fair.
King Parikesit has 5 (five) consorts and 8 (eight) sons, namely;
1. Goddess Puyangan, sons; Ramayana and Pramasata
2. Goddess Gentang, son of a child; Goddess Tamioyi
3. Dewi Satapi / Dewi Tapen, sons; Yudayana and Goddess Pramasti
4. Goddess of Impun, having sons; Goddess Niyedi
5. Dewi Dangan, having sons; Ramaprawa and Basanta.
In the book Adiparwa, the end of his story is told: King Parikshit died because he was bitten by Naga Taksaka in accordance with the curse of the Brahmin Granggi who was hurt because King Parikshit had put a black snake carcass on his father's neck. Bagawan Sarmiti.
